Three long-standing leaders at Las Positas College are preparing to retire or move into new roles, signaling a shift for the campus.

Among those departing is Jeanne Wilson, vice president of student services. Wilson will transition to the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District office as the vice chancellor of educational services and student success. She will be replacing Theresa Fleischer Rowland, who held the position until December 2025.

In late April, the district opened applications for an interim vice president of student services position. This role may be filled by Joel Gagnon, the current dean of counseling and student support, pending confirmation at the next Board of Trustees meeting April 19.

During her time at LPC, Wilson oversaw student services  including admissions, registration, financial aid and more. Her new role will allow her to continue influencing student progress across the district.

Terrance Thompson and Carolyn Scott will also be ending their time at LPC and retiring. Scott, executive assistant to the vice president of academic services, worked at LPC for more than 15 years. Thompson, career and transfer center coordinator, is concluding a 24-year career, including 14 years at the college.

All three are members of the Black Educators Association. Scott currently serves as president of the organization. The BEA is dedicated to fostering a welcoming community for all Black students and employees.

Thompson also serves as an adviser for the African American Male Education and Development program, also known as A2MEND. The program provides mentoring and coaching support to  students through the college, transfer and career processes.

In December 2025, The Express recognized Scott and Wilson among the most influential women on campus. Their departures mark a transition for several programs and departments connected to student support and mentorship for the LPC community.

Wilson will continue working with Las Positas in her new role  as vice chancellor of educational services and student success at the district office. Her position will involve programs and services that affect LPC students. Scott, Wilson and Thompson spent years supporting student success programs and campus initiatives at Las Positas. Their work contributed to organizations and services with A2MEND, the Black Educators Association and student support programs.
