A vehicle was spotted engulfed in flames early this morning just outside of Parking Lot E on Campus Loop Road, near the intersection of Campus Hill Drive, prompting a rapid response from Campus Safety and local fire crews. First responders arrived on the scene within minutes to extinguish the heavy flames, which were contained entirely to the vehicle before it could spread to the Campus Vineyards.
All students and faculty are presumed safe at this time, and no injuries have been reported. The campus grounds remain secure, and a portion of the roads are closed as police investigators remain on scene to examine the source of the flames.
An abandoned vehicle fully enveloped by fire was first spotted by members of the Pacific Motorcycle Training school this morning around 6:38 a.m., causing a brief panic among those who were arriving for the morning’s driving lessons. The call went out, and two fire engines and a tactical fire unit from the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department rushed to the scene.

As the sun rose, authorities said the vehicle appeared to be abandoned with no driver or occupants at the site. Crews then immediately launched a defensive operation, working hurriedly to suppress the intense blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby bushes and vineyards.
A preliminary sweep of the area confirmed that the vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the incident, and Campus Safety locked down a portion of the road from Campus Hill Drive to the bus stops to investigate further.
The Livermore Police Department has officially taken over the scene, and is working in cooperation with Campus Safety to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Investigators are also looking into whether the vehicle was stolen and dumped before being intentionally set on fire.
Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area prior to the fire to contact the Livermore police tip line immediately.
