Women’s History Month is celebrated in March to commemorate and reflect all the contributions and changes women have made to history, culture and society.
On Mar. 14, 2018, keynote speaker Mary King, army veteran and PG&E vice president of human resources, will be speaking on campus for the 7th annual Honoring Women Veterans event at LPC. This event will be taking place in room 1726 in building 1700 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.,.
Students and community members are invited to listen and learn about King’s experience as an Army veteran and vice president of human resources for Pacific Gas and Electric company (PG&E).
LPC Veterans First organization will also be hosting a barbecue lunch following King’s presentation at 12 p.m.
After graduating from the United States Military Academy West Point, King went on to serve as a captain in the army for six years before retiring and working for PG&E.
According to PG&E’s website in May of 2017, it “was named as one of the best employers for veterans by Military Times which is the trusted source for independent news and information for service members and their families.”
Students are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about women veterans, their accomplishments and achievements. Valuable workplace ethics and skills will also be talked about as King will talk of careers and working for PG&E after her service in the military.
