LIVERMORE, CALIF–A female Muslim student yelled expletives while charging toward a female Jewish student at Las Positas College on Thursday, Oct. 12, captured in a video that has gained millions of views across social media and has prompted a response from the college.

In the video, the female Muslim student, who identified herself as Arzel Mohamed, said, “This is a Nazi f—ing IDF Israeli b—. You guys are f—ing Nazis. You support genocide.”

The female Jewish student recording the video and holding an Israeli flag, replied, “You’re the one killing Jews. You support genocide. You’re the ones beheading babies.”

Mohammad called the female Jewish student “brainwashed,” and said “nobody is killing Jews. Being anti-zionist is not antisemitic.”

At the same time, the female Jewish student said, “You guys slaughtered 1,300 Israelis. Do you need me to show you the videos of you slaughtering people?”

The video has been shared across sites like X, Instagram and YouTube, with one repost on Twitter garnering 1.8 million views at the time of this article. The posts have asked for the public to write to LPC president Dyrell Foster for Mohammed’s removal from campus.

Foster gave the following statement regarding the video Saturday: “The comments made in the video, and many comments made in response to the video, are hateful and offensive and have no place in our community, where we strive to create a safe, inclusive, caring, and supportive learning and working environment for all students and employees. Las Positas College stands firmly against hate speech. Harassment, antisemitism and all hate speech are unacceptable and do not reflect the mission and values of our college,” the statement read.

Foster continued to say the safety and well-being of the students and faculty are of the utmost priority and that students should report incidents such as harassment or threatening behavior to concerns@laspositascollege.edu. For immediate assistance, he encouraged the community to contact the campus police at (925) 424-1690 for non-emergencies or (925) 424-1699 for emergencies.

“As an inclusive college environment, we respect the diversity that is represented within our student body and within our broader community. The college’s commitment to supporting a diverse community requires an equally strong commitment to freedom of expression,” the statement read. “Freedom of expression at Las Positas College, however, is not without limits, and the college remains committed to providing an environment that respects the dignity of individuals and groups and is free of harassment and discrimination.”

The incident occurred in the wake of the Israel-Hamas War, an ongoing conflict between the U.S.-designated terror-group Hamas and Israel. Last week, on Oct. 7, the Hamas military group launched a rocket barrage from Gaza to Israel, and Palestinian militants attacked military bases across the Gaza-Israel barrer, massacring civilians in neighboring Israeli communities. At least 1,300 Israelis were killed, according to Health authorities in Gaza

A day after the attack, Israel declared war on Hamas. Since then, Israel has launched airstrikes in the Gaza strip and ordered the evacuation of nearly 1 million Gazans. Around 1,900 Palestinians have been killed as of Oct. 14.

“We remain deeply saddened by the ongoing escalation of violence, loss of life, destruction, and suffering that has affected both Jewish and Palestinian communities,” Foster’s statement read. “Our thoughts and sympathies go out to all those affected by this devastating situation. We continue to hope for a peaceful resolution to this complex and deeply rooted conflict and encourage our campus community to continue to support each other with empathy and understanding as we navigate these difficult times together.”

Though some social media accounts have reported Mohamed is no longer a student at LPC, Mohamed said she has not been suspended or expelled on X. To report updates regarding the incident, please contact the Express at LPCExpressNews@laspositascollege.edu.

This article was updated Oct. 17 to include new information regarding Mohamed’s enrollment status.
