In the Nov. 3 election, Luis Reynoso was elected for the Chabot-Las Positas Community College Luis District, Area 1 with 56% of the vote. Reynoso won over candidate Robert Carlson, who was president of Chabot College from 2002 to 2009. 

Reynoso is a college professor at three universities, Notre Dame de Namur, Keller-Devry and National Hispanic. He also serves on the Hayward School District as a trustee. Reynoso received his bachelor’s and master’s degree from Cal State East Bay and his Ph.D. from University of San Francisco. 

In his candidate statement, Reynoso said, “We need to promote economic opportunities through quality higher education in community colleges. An experienced candidate in finance and education for advocacy on combating racism, promoting equality, justice and fairness in public education is now needed more than ever.”
