Three of the 45 soccer players at Las Positas College earned All-American Scholar honors following the season. Leading the way is Arteen Arianmanesh, the first player in program history to earn both First Team All-American and First Team Scholar All-American honors. Women’s soccer captains, Allison Mitchell and Giovanna Coble, also received the award.

The award represents excellence on the field and in the classroom. All three players hold above a 3.88 grade point average.

Each athlete demonstrated they are capable of carrying a full academic load while also being a starting athlete all season — admirable traits and abilities that extend beyond the sport. It isn’t easy to hold a GPA like that, be a captain, and start almost every game; it’s elite.

Mitchell, a sophomore defender, has been a rock for Las Positas’ defense over the past two seasons. She has \ maintained a 4.0 GPA as a Biology major. This season, she played in 20 games, starting every single one, and contributed two goals, one assist, and one game-winning goal. A graduate of Castro Valley High School and a product of San Ramon FC.

Coble, also a team captain and sophomore defender, is a kinesiology major with a 4.0 GPA. Over two seasons, Giovanna started 34 out of 37 games, missing only three due to a broken hand. Her leadership goes beyond stats. She has consistently set the tone for the whole team. She is a graduate of Dougherty Valley High School and also played for San Ramon FC.

Arteen Arianmanesh has made history at Las Positas College. He is the first player in program history to be named both a First Team All-American and a First Team Scholar All-American, setting the bar incredibly high for future athletes. He is a business major with a 3.89 GPA. He has been an offensive force and a vocal leader on the field, leading a 13-5-5 team last season. His unique achievement, now called the “double-single” in the program, highlights his rare combination of athletic talent and academic dedication. He graduated from California High School.

As these three athletes move on from Las Positas College, they leave behind a legacy of leadership and excellence. Their academic achievements, on-field performances, and commitment to their teams demonstrate the high standard of Las Positas soccer and set a tone for future student-athletes.

“Having an All-American is a big deal; having three of them speaks volumes about our soccer programs at LPC,” assistant coach Cristian Barbontin-Jimenez said. “We always speak about standards, and they are primary examples of having high standards. Individually, they always pushed themselves to the limits, always worked hard, and made sure to lead by example.”
