A dead body was found on the Las Positas College campus on Nov. 20, the school’s top administrator confirmed in an email sent Friday to college employees.
The identity of the person has not been revealed, but President Dyrell Foster said the deceased was not a student or staff member.
The body is a male, in his 60s and a Livermore resident. The name has been withheld until the family is notified. Chabot-Las Positas Community College District spokesperson Jennifer Aires said the death appears to be a suicide. The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau is now leading the investigation.
The Livermore Police Department has not released details on the case, citing privacy concerns of the victim’s family.
The campus has been closed since Alameda County went under shelter in place orders in March. The school remained closed for the fall 2020 semester, transitioning to a distance education model. However, some staffers and students are allowed on campus with special permissions.
