The 63rd annual Grammy awards went with a different socially distanced approach this year. Normally hosted at the Staples Center, this event was held at a nearby rooftop with only a few dozen tables that held some of the most noteworthy music artists in recent history.
The live performances were held in an intimate indoor setting, with all of the performing artists of the night in attendance while the others performed. Many artists such as Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, Bad Bunny and many more graced the stage with fantastic performances.
The small scale of this event created a constant feeling of exclusivity, something that I’ve never truly felt when watching award shows in the past.
While some moments such as the performance from the band Black Pumas shined, others fell flat and awkward in some cases.
Unfortunately, their attempt to try something new is seemingly in vain due to the fact that the ratings for this year’s event are at an all-time low with 8.8 million viewers, almost 10 million less than last year’s GRAMMYS.
