Women’s soccer starts off the season strong with their 4-1-2 record.
Coming off their best season yet, the Las Positas women’s soccer team is determined to have another successful year.
They kicked off their season at home against Cypress College which resulted in a 5-1 win. Midfielder Camilia Fonseca (#19) was their biggest advantage in this game scoring one goal and four assists.
They also won their next two consecutive games leaving them 3-0 until Canyons College ended their streak with a 3-1 loss.
The Women’s soccer coach Paul Sapsford is extremely pleased with how his team is playing thus far saying “ The ladies are doing remarkably well on how they’ve started the season. They have shown tremendous character especially in their 5-1 victory over Cypress College who are a traditional Southern California powerhouse.”
There are many reasons to why this team is doing so well but their key asset has been forward Paola Samaniego. (#23) She has started all seven games and has been consistent in every one. To date she has scored six goals with one assist for a total of seven points.
On Friday, Sep.29 at 6:30 P.M there is home game against Hartnell College and Coach Sapsford and the team are hoping for a big turnout of Las Positas students to come out and support them.
