Undefeated– that is what opponents of this years women’s soccer team will be thinking when they face the Las Positas college women’s soccer team
On Oct. 24, 2017, the Las Positas women’s soccer team faced off against West Valley for a total resulting score of 5-0 bringing their season to seven wins and no losses, keeping their status as undefeated.
After this game, the previous current season record made by the team was brought up from 25 goals to a total of 30 goals scored.
With only three goals scored against them in three separate games, this team is witnessing a very steep rate of success that many of the players are hoping will propel them into winning the conference title.
Defense player Rhiannon Adams is particularly enthusiastic about this potential outcome. “I’m really excited. I just want to keep being undefeated and keep winning and hopefully win conference,” Adams said after their Oct. 24 win.
Yet, with all the excitement and success, there is still a lot of work to do. There were several times when the opponent had a clear shot, but missed the goal, allowing for Las Positas to take back control of the ball.
Additionally, some of the goals made by Las Positas could easily have been prevented by the opponents goalkeeper not being so far to one side of the net.
Paola Samaniego, a forward position member of the team knows that there is still a lot of work left to do.
“I feel like even now there are still things we can work on, but we’re getting there,” Samaniego said.
As the season progresses to the final set of their regular games, it remains to be seen whether or not the Las Positas Women’s soccer team will remain victorious or whether another team will win this years conference title.
