The Las Positas Men’s water polo team is off to the best start in team history. The team is in position to create even more. They picked up their first win ever against a Big 8 Conference Team, Santa Rosa. They’ve made their first ever trip out of area to Southern California and picked up a huge win against San Diego Miramar.

“Our biggest strength right now is our depth, we have a lot of players that we rely on,” said head Coach Robert Arroyo on Las Positas’ strengths.

Las Positas is using a format the Golden State Warriors made popular in “Strength in Numbers,” getting contributions up and down the roster from various players, as well as turning their biggest weakness into a major strength as well, developing younger players to be able to contribute immediately and later on in the season.

The team picked up a huge conference win against De Anza, on Oct. 4. The team was led in scoring by sophomores Jason Craighead and Charles Lewandoeski. They’ll look to keep that momentum going in another big game with conference tournament implications against Ohlone, setting up a huge game at the end of the season against conference leading West Valley.

Expectations for this team are really high. They hope to win or reach the NorCal Championships. But first they’ll have to take care of business in their own conference and win the Coastal Conference Tournament before they can take that next step.
