Las Positas College’s student government has its second student trustee in a month.

Student Trustee-elect Kyle Mandell resigned the position before being officially sworn in at the Chabot Las Positas Community College District Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 15. Mandell was the winner of the recent election for the position, which was held between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15.

Mandell’s resignation was announced at the Oct. 18 meeting of the Inter Club Council (ICC). He was unavailable for comment.

“All that I can say on behalf of the former student trustee is that he resigned,” Josué Hernández, the Program Coordinator of Student Life and Leadership said.

During the ICC meeting, Hernández announced that the runner-up of the September election, Jakob Massie, will be named to the position. Massie will be sworn in at the next board of trustees meeting on Nov. 15 at Las Positas College.

Also announced at the meeting was the stipulation that, by rule, Massie was required to resign his ICC secretary position as a condition of taking the student trustee job, as both positions are paid.

actually, i f he was never sworn-in as student trustee, he didn’t resign; he just didn’t take the office he was elected to. The obvious question, and it should have been asked: why did he not take position, he was elected to… did he give a reason?
