“I came to the United States in 2018 from Zimbabwe, Africa. I’ve been here for about a year, moved here with my family, so we’ve sort of have been integrating and getting used to the United States.

I grew up in a school that had no computers and got my first computer only when I was 19. I had no idea what I was doing with it. So, I somewhat self-taught myself in terms of computer science. I was able to work as a network administrator for Volkswagen in Zimbabwe for four years before I moved here.

Hopefully, I get a job, get some experience and education here and when that’s done, I’m hoping to go back to Zimbabwe to teach people about computer science and what I have learned here. It’s still a little behind in comparison to what the United States has to offer, which is why I want to help develop my country further. We still have so much to develop. So that’s my plan: to go back and change the technical field.

If you have a passion, a desire for something, it doesn’t matter what anyone says or tells you. You can go ahead and seek what you intend to achieve. If you are truly passionate about something, nothing can stop you. I think people should go for what they want to do, regardless of what the world has to say, regardless of whatever disability a person has. They should be just able to look and say, ‘This is what I want to do’ and go for it without limits.”
