The Las Positas Business Club has been expanding on campus and has gone to various competitions to present their skills and professionalism to business professionals and to compete with other schools such as UC Berkeley, UC Riverside and UC Santa Cruz.

The Business Club is starting to make a name for themselves and are learning and practicing how to become future business leaders in America.

The Business Club is all about “community and achievement … the Business Club is apart of a bigger organization, Future Business Leaders of America, and the collegiate division is called Phi Beta Lambda,” says the Business Club President, Ryan Elazegui.

They have competed in various competitions and even took home a couple of medals for their hard work and achievements.

Elazegui stated that, “For the competition, we had to analyze a case study, and present our solution to a panel of three judges, all of whom were active business professionals.”

These case studies are composed of different scenarios in which each team has to come up with a solution to solve the given problem, and the best answer and best solution wins. During competition there is a variety of events students can compete in such as marketing, communication, finance, etc. These competitions usually last for three days and are composed of different social and intellectual events. Students across California gather at these competitions and so do business leaders and professors.

The competition that the Business Club endured last year was highly competitive, but the team was able to beat out teams of five and six while in teams of only two people. This was possible because of their determined mindset and their clever answers to case studies that they were each assigned to.

The Business Club is one of many flourishing clubs on campus and were at Club Rush in order to recruit new members for their organization. The Business Club has been expanding and growing since it first started. Just this semester, they were able to recruit many more members than they did in the previous semester.

When asked about club requirements, Angelo Abellar, Communications Officer of the Business club stated that they, “Ask for students that are professional, that bring a professional attitude, and that are encouraging rather than discouraging.”

They already started planning and preparing for their competition in November. They are very serious and determined to prepare each member and officer that wants to compete in order to continue their path of achieving success. The club meets every 1st and 3rd Monday and every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.
