Las Positas College is holding several Smart Shops intended to aid students this February.

LPC Smart Shops is a service that provides free lectures and hands-on instruction designed to help students in various subjects and tasks around the campus.

These February Smart Shops will cover topics such as library usage, Dreamer Act applications, job hunting, paragraph writing and many more.

Library Usage

On Feb. 1, the LPC Library is hosting “Jump Start: Using the Library.” This event is meant to teach students how to use library resources to help themselves through classes. The event is to take place at 3 p.m. via a Zoom meeting.

Dreamer Act Application

Financial Aid outreach specialist Catherine Alfaro is hosting the California Dream Act Application Help Smart Shop on Feb. 10 at 4 p.m. This Shop helps undocumented students apply to receive financial aid that they would not receive otherwise.

Along with this, Alfaro is hosting “UndocuStudent Success” and “UndocuScholarships” on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 25 at 11:30 a.m. respectively.

Other Shops

While this article has highlighted “Jump Start: Using the Library” and the services provided to aid undocumented students, there are Smart Shops focusing on English, math, employment skills and biology.
