Most people enjoy receiving free things, especially when it comes to school. Saving a few bucks here and there will help students financially during their time in college.
Las Positas College offers Office 365 for Education, which includes Microsoft providing students with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote for free to do schoolwork.
After speaking with Instructional Computer Lab Specialist Greg Johns, learning the step by step instructions for signing up to get free Microsoft Office seems as though it would be very beneficial for students who are interested in doing some, or all of their schoolwork through Office 365, and creating an account is simple.
Start out by going to the Las Positas home page. Then, click on “Students Toolkit” which will bring you to the option of choosing “Office 365 for Education.”
To register all you need to know is your Zone-mail account. If one does not know their email, then simply go to class-web and click on “What is my email address?”
Once you have that necessary information, the username for Office 365 is your Zone-mail login. Next, you will be able to create your account by filling in your first and last name, make a password, and you will type in your phone number or email to receive a verification code showing this is your actual email.
Johns wants students to know, “The computer lab can and will help students with technical problems if they have trouble signing up for Office 365. Students need to know that myself and others who work in the lab are here to support students.”
The computer lab in room 803 located across from the 1600 building is open Mon. through Thurs. from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Fri. from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
