On Thursday Oct. 10th, 2013 Las Positas College held its annual blood drive event in the school’s old cafeteria in the 1700 building. LPC’s Student Health and Wellness Center oversaw the event that was sponsored by the American Red Cross.
“It was a very successful blood drive! We had a total of 75 donors sign in at the registration desk over five hours,” said Student Health & Wellness Center Site Administrator Dayna Barbero.
According to Barbero, Las Positas was able to collect 65 units of blood total, exceeding their goal of 49 units. This number has the potential to save 195 lives.
Because of this year’s results, next year’s goal will be even greater.
“Our goal will be to exceed this drive and collect 75 units,” said Barbero.
Barbero was happy to report that there were no incidents this year and that all donors left with “T-shirts, stickers, snacks and satisfaction knowing they helped to save a life.”
