Las Positas Men’s Soccer is heading to the playoffs riding a tremendous wave of momentum. Winning 14 straight games, going undefeated in their conference, the Hawks finished second in the conference only to Hartnell and are poised to make a big run in the tournament. Last season Los Positas made the tournament only to fall in the first round to Taft and this year they hope to make amends for that and go much further. In Coach Andrew Cumbo’s second year with the team they feel ready to take the lessons learned last year and build for this year. With their last loss coming in the middle of September they’ve seemed to hit their stride at the perfect time, they couldn’t be more prepared for the challenges to come in the coming days.
Time off may be the only way to slow them down right now and that’s the only thing that worries Cumbo before a potential championship run.
“The team is playing with a lot of confidence, just kind of wish the game wasn’t on Saturday just wish it was a little bit sooner.” Cumbo said
The team is ready to roll and is hoping this break in action doesn’t cost them the fire and passion to win and they can keep their mental toughness heading in to these huge games. With three returning starters, they know the feeling of loss and letdown that came with last years defeat and sure they don’t want to feel that again. They’ll be ready to go, set on a balanced attack and strong goal keeping from Brannon Dwyer, they’ll look to stay in attack mode and continue to dominate throughout the playoffs. Catch Las Positas Men’s Soccer Saturday as they kick off their playoff against Cañada at 4 p.m. at Las Positas College.
