Sophomore forward Carlie Bonderer created a moment to remember Saturday night at ‘The Nest” while leading her team to a 89-38 blowout against Gavilian College.
As if a 51 point win wasn’t enough to boast about, Bonderer set the state record for points scored in a single game with 50, going 21-33 from the floor. Adding to her amazing line, were 18 rebounds, two assists and two steals. She previously held the third spot in single game scoring with 32 points, which happened against San Francisco City College last season.
“I didn’t even realize that I scored 50 points,” said Bonderer. “I knew that I had a good game, but until coach (Clarence Morgan) told me, I had no idea. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, not without the way they work their (butts) off every day and not without my coach. He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever had.”
Amazingly, Bonderer did not consider this to be her best game.
“I was scoring points, but it wasn’t the best game I ever played,” Bonderer said. “I would say that my best game was against CCSF, where I had 32 points, because they’re ranked in the top 10 in California.”
Bonderer leads the state in points-per-game, rebounds, rebounds-per-game and field goal percentage.
