The Las Positas standout and All-American honoree moves to NCAA Division II after a dominant sophomore season in goal.
On March 9, Sahib Sandhu — starting goalkeeper of the Las Positas men’s soccer team — announced his commitment to play at Chico State. This move highlights Sandhu’s development as a player in the Hawks program.

Chico State competes at the NCAA Division II level in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Sandu allowed 14 goals in his 21 games this season, totaling seven shutouts. His 0.67 goals per game ranked third in the South Coast Conference among keepers who started at least 10 games. The Hawks finished 12-5-4 in games started by Sandu, reaching the second round of the California Community College Athletic Association NorCal regional playoffs.
During his time at Las Positas, Sandhu was named to the All-American second team and the United Soccer Coaches Association All-West regional teams.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Sandhu appeared in 14 games with 10 starts. Primarily a goalkeeper, he scored one goal to earn two points. He gained experience in conference play as the backup to Jason Brede, who was in goal for the Hawks’ historic playoff run in 2024.
As a sophomore, Sandhu commanded the team with experience as a captain. His voice could be heard from the opposing goal. Sandhu started 21 of the Hawks’ 23 games.
Over his two-year career, Sandhu played 35 games with 31 starts, posted a 1.02 goals-against average, and was in goal for 16 Hawks wins.
Sandhu will now play for the Wildcats squad. The Wildcats finished 5-7-4 this past season, and started sophomore Western Joyner in 14 of its 16 games.
