The search is over. The Presidential Advisory Search Committee has narrowed their list of candidates down to the final three. On Wednesday, Oct. 2, Dr. Barry Russell, Dr. Christopher Villa and Dr. Pamela Walker will be on the Las Positas Campus for the Presidential Candidate Forums.
Dr Barry Russell is currently the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs for the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s office. Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger appointed Russell to that position in 2009. Prior to that, Russell served as the Vice President of Instruction at College of the Siskiyous. He also held the position of Dean of Fine Arts and Communications at Cerritos College as well as at Southwestern College. Russell was previously a final candidate in the Las Positas presidential search in 2011.
Dr. Christopher Villa came to Fresno City College (FCC) in 2009 as the Vice President of Student Services. Since coming to FCC, Villa has been named a finalist in three different presidential searches before being considered by LPC. He has spent 30 years of his career working in higher education with just under 20 of those years holding a management position.
In 2001, Dr. Pamela Walker came to American River College. Walker was the Dean of Science/Allied Health and the Associate Vice President for Instruction before she began her current position as Vice President of Student Services. At Cerritos College Walker was the Dean of Physical Education/Athletics as well as the Dean of Admissions.
On Oct. 2, the candidates will be on campus in 45 minute intervals to express why they are the best candidate to become the LPC President. Held on the main stage in the Mertes Center for the Arts, students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to meet the candidates and ask questions.
