Students at Las Positas have the opportunity to study abroad in central Europe next year with english professor Catherine M. Eagan between the dates of June 5 to 17, 2019. This journey focuses on “empires, nations, and migration,” which will take students to countries such as Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Eagan, who has spent time abroad in Ireland and Croatia says in an informational packet, “Educational travel is a vital part of a complete education. It expands views, promotes understanding, and provides firsthand experiences of current events, different cultures, and college curriculum.”
The trip is organized through Explorica, which focuses on educational travel with teachers. The itinerary has guided tours in Vienna, Budapest, Ljubljana and Dubrovnik, as well as time in other cities.
The cost covers airfare, hotels, breakfast, and tours and attractions on the itinerary, but students must consider passport and visa costs, and any other additional food and free time expenses.
If students apply before May 31, 2018 there is a $300 discount and expenses are helped by spreading the cost over more months.
Without this discount, the tour fee is $5,024, with traveler’s protection plans also available. There are options for fundraising, either as an individual or as a group.
Interested students can sign up at www.explorica.com/Eagan-5777, or contact Eagan at
