It is one thing to see the videos and images of eyewitnesses who experienced the catastrophe from afar on that day. But, to have someone who was in the building moments before the plane hit, send tingles down your back.
Bert Upson came to Las Positas on a hot, hazy day in Livermore to speak of his experience escaping the World Trade Center after the first plane had hit the North Tower. The 83 year old heard the first plane hit, Thud! The building operators explained that the building was fine and everybody can go back to their offices. He knew something was not right. He had to get out of there.
“I didn’t know where ‘getting out of here’ was — it was my first trip to the towers.”
Upson was a Veteran in his own right, who was grateful for it that morning. He explained how his assertiveness is what kept him and his wife, Carol, alive that day.
The Veteran wants to spread the truth about what happened that day and how the people reacted. Despite all the conspiracy theories out there, he has his own beliefs and expresses them in his book “On a Clear Day”.

Upson traveled to Las Positas College to speak on behalf of his experience escaping the South Tower moments after it got hit by a terror-driven plane
