The Hawks’ men basketball star Anand Hundal is officially one of the best community college players in California.

The six foot ten sophomore center was selected for the 2017-2018 All-State team, announced on March 9, 2018 by the California Community College Men’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Hundal was the only Hawk to make the elite list. A total of 27 players were chosen by the Association to receive the honor.

“It’s a testament to all the work I put in,” Hundal said.

“This is something I will look back on later in life.”

Hundal averaged a double double this season with 14.8 points, 10.3 rebounds to go with 2.7 blocks. He ranked second in the state in blocks per game and eighth in rebounds per game.

Hundal was a major reason the Hawks finished with an 18-11 record and reached the first round of playoffs.

“Being named first team All-State team means so much to me,” Hundal said, “but it means more to see all the people that have helped me get to this point proud of me.”

Hundal is currently undecided on where he will attend college next, fielding offers from a few schools. However, despite where his decision leads him, Hundal plans to continue his basketball career.

Eddie Stansberry from San Francisco City College and Skylar Chavez from Santa Rosa were among the other players from Bay Area schools to make All-State.

San Francisco’s Justin Labagh won the Association’s Northern California Coach of the Year honors. Terrell Brown, also from San Francisco, won the Association’s Northern California Player of the Year honors.
