After a season full of victories, the LPC forensics team returns from their last competition, proud of their strong finish to the season.

In their best finish since 2009, the Talk Hawks ended their season with a 4th place win at nationals. In their April competition, every team member walked away with an award. Seven of their 14 speeches also advanced to the semifinals.

To beat many other community colleges and earn their fourth place spot took hours of hard work and determination. All of which paid off, according to their director, as they gained a sense of accomplishment.

When asked how the students performed, Director of Forensics Jim Dobson replied, “They made our program look good.”

Among the other highlights listed, Dobson explained that the Talk Hawks tended to perform better in certain events than in others. This year, all three Prose Interpretation and all three Speech to Entertain entries progressed to the semifinals. Also an Informative Speech advanced all the way to the final round of competition.

Overall, the Talk Hawks performed incredibly well this semester, and will have plenty of other opportunities to look forward to.

Dobson confirmed this in his statement, “This was a great year! We have two students that will be going on to compete at the four-year level that will be receiving scholarships. What’s especially cool is they will have their choice of top forensics programs.”

“If we equate this to college basketball, this would be the equivalent of these students receiving offers from Kentucky, Michigan State, Louisville and Connecticut. It is an exciting time!” he added.
