Throughout the election, ISIS has been brought up numerous times by candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

The responses to the horrific terrorist attacks led by ISIS resulted in problematic responses voiced by Trump along with many Americans.

Muslims everywhere have unfairly had the “terrorist” stereotype attached to them and their religion. Everywhere they are being harassed everyday because of the stereotype that has existed since 9/11 and has gotten worse since the ISIS crisis.
Trump’s plan of destroying ISIS is blatantly Islamophobic. Discrimination against Muslim immigrants and refugees will not stop ISIS or terrorism. Anyone can be a terrorist, no matter what race or religion. Connecting terrorism with a religion is pure bigotry and it is further dividing the country.

Donald Trump’s plan of attempting to stop ISIS is very discriminatory, detrimental and Islamophobic. He has used the term “radical Islamic terrorism” to describe the attacks made by so-called Muslims and has condemned Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton multiple times for not using the term.

This term, however, portrays a false representation of Islam and Muslims. Ninety percent of terrorist attacks in America have actually been carried out by non-Muslims according to the Global Research Centre. The myth that the only terrorists acts in America were committed by Muslims needs to be tarnished.

The KKK is a commonly known terrorist group that has been around for years, yet no one throws around the term “radical Christian terrorism”. The group also has a history of committing violent terrorist attacks. However, there wasn’t nearly as much outrage. Christians aren’t being searched due to their religion or discriminated against.

ISIS has committed terrible acts in the name of Allah, however we can’t allow them to be the representation of Islam. The so-called Muslims who are committing these crimes should not represent Islam and all Muslims. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world, and to be ignorant about every Muslim in this world’s beliefs is flat out bigotry.

Islam condemns any act of violence. On Chapter 5, Verse 32, the Quran claims, “…if any one killed a person, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind; and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole of mankind…” Thus, the continuation of giving the false implication that Islam is associated with terrorism needs to stop.

As a Muslim myself, it troubles me when I hear people speak ignorance about my faith. It also upsets me when I hear that my family members who wear the hijab as well as other Muslims publicly get harassed for it.

I’ve heard countless stories of them being told to leave America, getting called terrorists and having their hijab tugged at for simply living in this country.
