The 2017-2018 soccer season fans have been anticipating is finally upon us. With the Las Positas women’s team just returning from their tournament in Hawaii and making history for LPC women’s soccer and the men’s team placing second in their division and winning one All-American award, its safe to say fans are fired up for this season.

The women’s soccer team just made history for Las Positas, making this past season their most successful one to date. They finished their regular season with 13 wins, 3 losses, and 3 ties.

They continued on to playoffs and made it to the second round but unfortunately were knocked out by their rivals Diablo Valley College. Despite their loss, they have a lot to be proud of: they placed seventh overall in Northern California and also went on and played in a tournament in Hawaii, finishing 1-1.

The women’s home opener was Friday, Aug. 25, which resulted in a 5-1 win against Cypress College.

The men’s team made it to playoffs and placed second overall in Northern California, while winning one All American award and six players won All Coast Conference awards. The men’s team also brought home the offensive MVP award and the Most Valuable Goalkeeper award for the North Division of the Coast Conference.

The men’s team kicked off their season at home on Friday, August 25, against Merritt College, resulting in a 5-0 win.

Although a majority of players received scholarships and went on to play for universities, the coaches and players are hopeful to keep their momentum going and to make this upcoming season their best yet.
