Las Positas College was well represented at East Los Angeles College this past weekend for the 2013 Swim & Dive State Championships.

Freshman swimmer McKenna Stevulak has had quite the remarkable season. Even though she has had many eye-opening performances, Stevulak may have saved her best for last.

Day one saw Stevulak compete in the 50-yard freestyle event. She finished seventh overall out of 16 swimmers with a time of 24.81.

Day two, the freshman standout was on her A-game. She competed in the 50-yard backstroke and ended in a tie for first place with Kamaehu Alboro of Riverside College with a time of 27.08.

On the final day in Los Angeles, she took second place out of 16 in the long 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.71.

Top swimmers represented these events from schools all over California. Head Coach Jason Craighead was not surprised by the performance displayed by Stevulak against the top talent.

“What she has been able to do in her first year here is incredible,” Craighead said. “I expect even more from her next season.”

The State Championships marked the final meet of the season for the Las Positas College Swim and Dive Team. With a whole offseason to improve, the sky is the limit for McKenna Stevulak.
